La Jolla High School Athletic Clearance Card
In order to compete in athletics at La Jolla High School, you must comply with each of the
following steps. You will not be allowed to try-out, practice, or participate until all steps have
been completed and you have received a Clearance Card from the administrative office.
Step 1:
• Complete all parts of the "Athletic Participation Form" packet- Download Form
Step 2:
• Purchase an ASB card from the school at a cost of $15.00
Step 3:
• Submit Athletic Participation Form and proof of ASB card to the administration in the
main office on the announced dates.
Step 4:
• Receive a new Clearance Card for each sport which you then deliver to your coach at tryouts.
NOTE: If you have already cleared for a sport during the current school year, you need only complete Step 4. The other information will be on file in the office.
La Jolla High, City Conference, and C.I.F. Rules and Regulations
• All students will clear for eligibility through administrative personnel, not the individual coaches.
• Eligibility processing will be done in the Main Office at times to be announced for each season of sport.
• When athletes have completed all steps of the eligibility process, they will receive a Clearance Card to
give to their coaches. Only students who present this clearance card will be allowed to participate.
• You must have a 2.0 grade point average AND a 2.0 citizenship average on your last report card;
summer school academic grades will be averaged in when determining athletic eligibility;
• You must be living in the La Jolla High School attendance area, the feeder attendance area or
attending La Jolla High on an approved program (NCLB, VEEP, Choice, or Seminar).
La Jolla High School Girls Lacrosse Registration & Tryouts
When and where are tryout ??
Tryouts begin on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for all players (returning or new) at Edwards Field. Be there no later than 5:10 p.m. to check in and pay fees (if not paid in advance - see below). Tryouts will continue each school day that week from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. until the varsity and JV teams are selected. (Please contact one of the coaches if you have a conflict with CIF playoffs in a winter sport.)
What paperwork do I need to bring to tryouts ??
A Medical Clearance Card. Even if you played a fall or winter sport, you will need to go to the school administrative office and get a Clearance Card and bring it to tryouts. For those who did not play fall or winter sport, follow the instructions listed in "La Jolla High School Athletic Clearance Card" above.
What equipment do I need for tryouts ??
You must bring a stick, mouth guard and goggles. (LJHS color goggles may be purchased at the field for $45. Checks should be made payable to "Peter Olson.")
What does it cost to play ??
Player fees are $365. Checks should be made payable to "LJHS Foundation - Girls Lacrosse." Checks can be mailed before tryouts to: Peter Olson, 5235 Harbour Heights Court, San Diego, CA 92109, or brought to the first day of tryouts. Payment of player fee is due at or before registration on February 23, 2010.
Lacrosse is a non-funded CIF sanctioned sport which is paid for entirely by player fees and donations. Player fees are used to pay for many items including uniforms, field equipment, referee fees, and coaching stipends. Player fees do not cover all of the needs of the program.
When will the teams practice ??Practice will begin the day after the varsity and JV teams are selected. The first regular practice will likely be around Friday, February 26, 2010. JV will practice from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Varsity will practice from5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Times are subject to adjustments the coaches may make as the season progresses.
